On May 26–27, 2023, the Hungarian Atlantic Council had the honor of co-hosting this year’s CASPER Conference, titled “Transatlantic Cooperation and Values in a New Geostrategic Environment”, in partnership with NATO, the Heritage Foundation, and the Foundation for Development and Democratic Transition (ICDT). The event took place at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest.
The closed-door conference brought together prominent foreign policy thinkers from the United States, Europe, and Hungary to engage in in-depth discussions on security policy, with the aim of strengthening strategic thinking and transatlantic dialogue.
Key topics included:
- Managing strategic pressure within the transatlantic alliance
- Supporting Ukraine in its defense against aggression
- Countering malign narratives and disinformation
Experts from NATO, the U.S., Europe, and Central and Eastern Europe analyzed the challenges posed by Russia and China and proposed policy recommendations to help ensure the security and stability of the transatlantic community in the years ahead.
