Over the past two decades, China’s presence in South America has grown significantly. In addition to diplomatic relations, the region has seen substantial economic engagement. Numerous agreements have been signed with major countries in the region, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Peru.
The aim of this analysis is to highlight the areas where Chinese presence is most prominent and to examine the projects launched or currently underway by Chinese economic actors since the turn of the millennium, all aimed at expanding their economic footprint, role, and influence across the region.
