MAT General Assembly

The 31-year-old Hungarian Atlantic Council (MAT) held its regular annual General Assembly on May 23 at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Before the official proceedings, the Council had the honor of welcoming Minister Dr. Tibor Navracsics, who delivered a compelling and widely appreciated lecture titled “The Future of Europe.” The content of his presentation can be accessed at the following link:

This year’s Assembly was organized with the participation of the Council’s new Secretary General, Dr. István Gyarmati. Following the unanimous approval of the annual reports and the revised statutes, the MAT membership elected new vice presidents:

  • Dr. Tibor Benkő, former Minister of Defence
  • Zsolt Németh, Chairman of the Hungarian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee
  • Dr. Tibor Babos, retired colonel and ministerial commissioner
  • Dr. Márton Ugrósdy, Deputy State Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office

With these additions, the MAT leadership has expanded to a nine-member Executive Board, which also includes:

  • György Csóti, President
  • André Erdős, Anna Felkai, István Szent-Iványi, and Félix Debrenti, Vice Presidents

With cordial regards,
György Csóti
