MAT Visit to the Paks Nuclear Power Plant

As part of a study visit series organized by the Presidency of the Hungarian Atlantic Council (MAT), members of MAT and the Hungarian Youth Atlantic Council (MIAT) visited the Paks Nuclear Power Plant on December 1, 2023.

The visit was guided by Pál Kovács, Chief of Cabinet and former State Secretary responsible for maintaining the plant’s capacity. Participants received a comprehensive overview of the plant, including its technical specifications and its contributions to Hungary’s, the region’s, the EU’s, and the global energy landscape.

The discussion also covered the ongoing Paks II project, highlighting its safety, energy policy, and nuclear aspects. Following the expert presentations and exchange of views, attendees toured Unit 4, including its control room, turbine hall, and reactor building, as well as the Maintenance Training Center.
