On March 12, 2024, the Directorate for Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian National Assembly, in cooperation with the Hungarian Atlantic Council (MAT), hosted a ceremonial event in the Tisza Kálmán Hall of the Parliament to mark the 75th anniversary of NATO’s founding and the 25th anniversary of Hungary’s membership in the Alliance.
The event featured short addresses by Zsolt Németh, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee; Attila Mesterházy, former President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly; László Hajnik, Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy at the Ministry of Defence; and György Csóti, President of MAT.
Following the formal remarks, an informal discussion took place among the participants, including government officials, current and former MAT leadership, members of relevant parliamentary committees, and civilian security policy experts. The discussion was moderated by Lőrinc Nacsa, head of the Hungarian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
