On May 15, 2025, the Hungarian Atlantic Council held its annual General Assembly at the headquarters of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The event began with a welcome speech by György Csóti, President of the Council.
A highlight and the opening of the meeting was the presentation of the now-traditional József Antall Award. This year, the Hungarian Atlantic Council presented the award to Gergely Gulyás, with a laudation delivered by Vice President Zsolt Németh. The award was handed over on behalf of the Atlantic Council by President György Csóti and Secretary General István Gyarmati.
The official part of the General Assembly was conducted under the chairmanship of Tibor Benkő. This was followed by the adoption of the agenda and the appointment of the nomination and vote-counting committees required for the leadership elections.
During the Assembly, President Csóti presented the 2024 annual report, describing the year as extremely successful and eventful for the organization. Highlights included the inaugural Budapest Security Forum and the panel discussions organized by the Atlantic Council at Tusványos.
In addition to presenting these events, it is important to mention the nationwide event series organized outside Budapest in cooperation with the Society and Friends Circles of the Defence Forces. These joint initiatives aimed to promote the importance of transatlantic relations in Hungary and to enhance the role and perception of the Hungarian Defence Forces across broad segments of society.
As part of the agenda, the Statutes were amended, followed by the leadership election, which was conducted through a secret ballot regarding the composition of the Presidency.
The members renewed their confidence in President György Csóti and Secretary General István Gyarmati.
The General Assembly elected the following individuals as Vice Presidents of the Hungarian Atlantic Council:
