The Hungarian Atlantic Council (MAT) has presented the Antall József Award to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Based on the decision of the MAT Presidency, the award is granted annually to one domestic and one international individual or organization who has made an outstanding contribution to supporting the Council’s mission and activities.
The 2023 international recipient, Jens Stoltenberg, has served as Secretary General of NATO since 2014, successfully coordinating the alliance’s operations and thereby indirectly strengthening the legitimacy and effectiveness of the Hungarian Atlantic Council.
The award was formally presented on January 12, 2024, in Brussels by Dr. István Gyarmati, MAT Secretary General, on behalf of President György Csóti, to Marie-Doha Besancenot, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, who accepted the honor on Stoltenberg’s behalf.
Secretary General Stoltenberg expressed his appreciation in a video message, thanking MAT for the recognition and wishing the Council continued success in its future endeavors.
