Workshop on Central European Security – An Event by the Hungarian Atlantic Council with the Support of the International Visegrad Fund!

The Hungarian Atlantic Council’s recent workshop—organized with the support of the International Visegrad Fund—was successfully held, placing a spotlight on the security challenges facing Central Europe and the role of NATO, with special attention to public perceptions in Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Participants—including experts, political analysts, and civil society representatives—discussed the findings of social media surveys, which shed light on the specific characteristics of public opinion in different countries and the level of trust in NATO.

📅 Program Highlights:

  • Opening remarks by István Gyarmati
  • BAKAMO presentation on NATO’s image in social media, followed by a Q&A
  • Lecture by Klára Siposné Kecskeméthy on NATO’s 75th anniversary
  • Panel on security challenges in Europe and beyond:
    • István Gyarmati (Russia)
    • Zsolt Csepregi (Middle East)
    • Ferenc Németh (The Balkans – online)
    • Tamás Matura (China)
  • Summary and recommendations by István Gyarmati

We thank everyone who participated, both in person and online! We will continue to explore regional security issues with similar events—next up: Bratislava, on October 3, in cooperation with our Slovak partner, the Adapt Institute.
